Nhat Nguyen won the European Under-17 badminton title at 15, the same year he took his first Irish senior title, and won the Irish Open for his first senior international victory.
He competed at two Olympic Games, finishing joint 15th at Tokyo 2020 and joint 14th at Paris 2024.
Nguyen took European junior bronze in 2018, the year he also reached the quarter-finals of the World Junior Championships and competed at the Youth Olympic Games. In 2023 he reached the semi-finals of a Super 300 event in Orleans and won his group at the European Games. In 2024 he reached the quarter-finals of two Super 300 tournaments, in Orleans and at the German Open.
He moved to Ireland from Vietnam at the age of six, settling initially in Belturbet. He is based in Clarehall, Dublin.
