Harry Maguire crewed in the men's Dragon class sailing at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games alongside helmsman Eddie Kelliher and fellow crew member Robin D'Alton. The Irish crew chartered their vessel in Japan and faced considerable challenges with the boat's preparation - the original mast was unfit to sail, a replacement ordered from Denmark was damaged in transit and a third mast was sourced at the venue, while the rudder also required remedial work before the team could take to the water.
Despite the disruption to their preparation, the crew completed all seven races of the competition at the Enoshima yachting centre. Harry Maguire passed away on 18 August 2007.
