Summer Games

The Olympic Council of Ireland have a medical delegation in Beijing for further meetings with BOCOG officials and Medical staff.

Dermot Henihan, Irish Olympic Team Chef de Mission and OCI Press Officer Jack McGouran will be in Beijing with a team of Irish journalists in November 2007.

The Olympic Council of Ireland will be hosting a Beijing 2008 conference on the 7th and 8th December in Howth, Co Dublin.

Dermot Henihan Chef de Mission of the Irish Olympic Team hosted a an Olympic Team Manager seminar at Olympic House in Howth today, 26th September.

Last week Ireland's Chef de Mission Dermot Henihan joined his colleagues from the 197 other National Olympic Committees (NOCs) in Beijing for a preparatory seminar. Through presentations, workshops and a venue tour, the Organising Committee for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG), in cooperation with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), briefed the Dermot and Stephen Martin (OCI CEO) about various operational aspects which will be crucial for the smooth running of the Games in exactly one year's time.

Yesterday in Beijing, exactly one year before the start of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad and as part of the festivities planned for the occasion, a major mobile exhibition – One World, One Dream, IOC Olympic Treasure Exhibition China Tour – got underway.

Early morning on August 8, 2007, the day marking the one-year countdown to the Beijing Olympic Games, Chefs de Mission, who are here to attend the Seminar of chefs de mission for the Beijing Olympics, got together to plant trees at the Olympic Green.

Dermot Henihan, Chef de Mission, and Stephen Martin , Chief Executive, will be in Beijing from the 6th – 10th August attending the BOCOG Chef de Mission Seminar for the 2008 Olympic Games.

On Wednesday the 18th April 2007 the Irish Ambassador, Declan Kelleher and Olympic Chef de Mission, Dermot Henihan led the Irish entourage to visit the school dedicated to supporting the Irish Olympic Team and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

From the 14th to 19th April we were back in Beijing to have further meetings with BOCOG and to visit the venues for Boxing, Fencing, Swimming and Triathlon plus the Olympic Stadium and Village.

Chef de Mission,Dermot Henihan, Deputy Chef, Tom Rafter, and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Martin are in China for planning meetings with the Beijing Organising Committee officials for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG).
