At the first meeting of the new Olympic Council of Ireland Executive Committee two long standing and loyal former officers, namely Dermot Sherlock, Honorary General Secretary and Peadar Casey, Honorary Treasurer were awarded Honorary Membership of the Executive Committee for the lifetime of the committee.
The conferring of Honorary Membership is not a regular occurrence and it is for the magnificent and extensive service given to the Olympic Council of Ireland, Olympism and the Olympic Family that Dermot and Peadar were awarded the honour.
We are sure that all in the Olympic Movement in Ireland and internationally will agree that you could not find two more deserving servants to the World of Olympism.
