Kellogg’s on board for Rio 2016

Olympic gold medalist, Katie Taylor helped launch Kellogg’s official sponsorship of Team Ireland for 2016 Olympic Games.

The partnership will be promoted across a number of Kellogg’s brands, including Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Special K, Squares and Pringles from now until the end of 2016.

The sponsorship announcement marks the beginning of Kellogg’s #greatstarts campaign, which will share the amazing stories of Irish Olympians, such as Katie Taylor, fuelled for success by Kellogg’s cereal & snacks.

As part of the Team Ireland activation Kellogg’s will be giving consumers the opportunity to win tickets to the Rio 2016 Olympics in the build up to the games, as well as take part in an instant win mechanic to win a day with Olympic hero Katie Taylor.

The partnership means Kellogg’s will have Team Ireland marketing rights across its brands, including Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Special K, Squares and Pringles from now until the end of 2016.

Kellogg’s will bring the sponsorship to life through a full year marketing and activation programme, leveraging the scale of its full portfolio of cereal, wholesome snacks and crisps and  create Category-driving events, executed across multiple channels.

Consumers will have the chance to win tickets to the Rio 2016 Olympics in the build up to the games as well as take part in an instant win mechanic during the games with on pack promotions across Kellogg’s portfolio.

Kellogg’s also plans to announce a number of athletes to support the campaign in the coming months as they look to inspire people with the amazing stories of Irish Olympians, fuelled for success by Kellogg’s cereal & snacks.

Jim McNeill, managing director of Kellogg’s Ireland, said: “Kellogg’s has been a staple of Irish breakfast tables for decades and the brand is synonymous with getting the nation off  to a great start in the morning – we are the champion of great starts. We are proud to be an official partner of Team Ireland and it’s a winning fit for us as we look to create excitement for retailers and shoppers across our cereal and snacks brands ahead of and during Rio 2016.”

Pat Hickey, President of the Olympic Council of Ireland, said: “We are delighted to welcome Kellogg’s on board as a Team Ireland sponsor. Athletes believe, as we do, that the power of breakfast is crucial to a great start to the day and that from great starts come great things. That’s one of the messages we will help to deliver as Team Ireland.”
