Mageean led from the front until she was overtaken in the final straight by Serbian Amela Terzic. Mageean;’s time of 4:16.82 was a seasons best.
Mageean’s medal was the fourth for Irish age group athletes this season taking medals in the Team event at the European Cross country, Brian Gregan and kate Veale at the Euro U23’s and World Youths respectively.
