Leading footwear and apparel representatives from New Balance met with Olympic Council of Ireland yesterday to further discussions on the design, technical elements, functionality and timelines for the Team Ireland kit for Rio 2016, Baku 2015, and European and World Youth Olympics in 2015/16.
Ireland are in the privileged position of being the only National Olympic Committee sponsored by New Balance.
The Chair of the Olympic Council Athlete’s Commission, Darren O’Neill, was integral to the discussions and his committee will be inclusive within the process as per the London Olympic Cycle.
New Balance were represented by Global Marketing Manager Josh Rowe and Portia Blunt, New Balance’s Apparel Innovation Manager and the OCI by Rio 2016 Chef de Mission Kevin Kilty, Baku 2015 Chef de Mission Dermot Henihan, Darren O’Neill, Stephen Martin and Martin Burke.
