Brendan Irvine captained the Irish boxing team and carried the flag for Ireland at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
He won silver at 49kg at the 2015 European Games in Baku, bronze at the 2017 European Championships and silver at flyweight at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Irvine made his Olympic debut at Rio 2016 at the age of 20, finishing joint 17th after meeting Shakhobiddin Zoirov of Uzbekistan, who went on to win the gold medal. He finished joint 17th again at Tokyo 2020. He is from Belfast.
