Team Ireland gather at Rio 2016

With only six days to go until the Opening Ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, more Team Ireland athletes are arriving in Rio and settling in to their accommodation in the Olympic Village.

The gymnastics team was the first to arrive at the Village, followed by the swimming team who stayed overnight before departing for their training camp in Uberlandia.

And on Friday night, the boxing team, men’s hockey squad, the rowing team all settled in for their first night in the Village. The modern pentathletes also arrived for a one night stopover before making their way to Uberlandia.

The hockey team explored their new home whilst Team Ireland’s boxers squeezed in an impromptu training session.

The cycling team will arrive on 1 August followed by the sailing team on 2 August.
