Nick Thuillier competed in the individual and team foil at the 1948 London Olympic Games as one of the founding figures of Irish competitive fencing. He learned his fencing in the British Army and based himself in Dublin during World War II, joining the Irish Fencing Club before later resigning to found Dublin's second fencing club in premises in Parnell Square. In London he recorded one victory in the individual foil, against Roland Asselin of Canada - the best result among the Irish male fencers. Ireland lost to France 16-0 and Egypt 9-0 in the team foil. He is the father of Harry Thuillier, who competed in fencing at the Helsinki 1952 and Rome 1960 Olympic Games.
