Emily Lane took up a central contract with the Irish women's sevens programme in 2018 and became one of its most experienced players.
She played in the women's rugby sevens tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Ireland finished eighth on the team's first appearance at the Olympic Games.
Lane began playing rugby underage with Mallow RFC and was also a Gaelic footballer with Mourneabbey. A chance meeting with an IRFU development officer while she was studying biochemistry at University College Cork persuaded her to move to Dublin and join the programme. She is from Mallow, County Cork.
