GOVERNANCE

Governance

Good Governance is a central strategic pillar for the Olympic Federation of Ireland.

The OFI constitution references three standing Committees to oversee a number of Governance areas as follows, the HR&R Committee, the Audit and Risk Committee and the Governance Committee.

Each Committee operates to the same minimum Gender Balance principles (minimum 40% of either gender) adopted by the OFI Board.

The Athletes’ Commission is elected during each Olympic cycle to represent the Olympic athletes. The chair of the Athletes Commission sits on the OFI Board, ensuring that the athletes’ voice remains central to all decision making.

The Olympic Federation of Ireland is fully compliant with the IOC Governance Requirements as set out in the Olympic Charter as well as the Governance Code for the Community, Voluntary and Charitable Sector in Ireland.

Clear Terms of Reference are set for each Committee and are backed by 23 policy documents applying to the wider organisation, which are regularly reviewed and updated to ensure best practice. We are also audited annually and publish Annual Financial Statements. These are presented each year to our members at Annual General Meeting.

As a not for profit company limited by guarantee based in Dublin, we operate in accordance with Irish Company Law.
