BIOGRAPHY
Lizzie Murphy was a travelling reserve goalkeeper for the Ireland women’s hockey team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Murphy was born in Canada and grew up in Dublin, attending St Kilian’s German School from kindergarten to Leaving Certificate – she became the first past pupil of the school to play senior international hockey. She took up hockey aged 14 at Hermes Hockey Club and went on to play for Hermes-Monkstown and Loreto before moving to Germany, where she played for Grossflottbeker HC in Hamburg. She was capped for Ireland at the 2019 and 2021 EuroHockey Championships and the 2019 Olympic qualifiers against Canada.
She made her senior international debut in October 2017 against Scotland. She holds a Masters in Agricultural Science from University College Dublin.
