BIOGRAPHY

Rory McIlroy has twice finished just outside the medals at an Olympic Games. On his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, he finished tied fourth after an unforgettable seven-man playoff for the bronze medal. Eliminated after the second hole, he famously said: “I never tried so hard in my life to finish third”.

At the Paris 2024 Games, McIlroy again came agonisingly close with a huge surge at the start of the back nine putting him in to a medal position before he eventually dropped to finish tied for 5th.

McIlroy has spent more than 100 weeks at world number one since turning pro in 2007, is a four-time Major winner (2011 US Open, 2012 & 2014 PGA Championship and the 2014 British Open), and was runner-up in the 2022 Masters.

Over the course of his career, he has racked up 26 wins on the PGA, a record three FedEx titles, 17 victories on the European Tour, and five wins from seven Ryder Cup appearances.
