Ernest ‘Ernie’ McKay

Ernie McKay was a member of the Irish football team at the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, playing in the historic first match as an independent Irish Olympic team - a 1-0 victory over Bulgaria on 28 May 1924 - and in the quarter-final against the Netherlands on 2 June. A St James's Gate FC player, McKay was one of five St James's Gate players in the squad across the two matches.
