Megan Burns started two of Ireland's pool matches including the 38-0 win over South Africa, featured in the quarter-final against Australia, and scored a try in the eighth-place playoff against Great Britain in the women's rugby sevens tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Ireland finished eighth on the team's first appearance at the Olympic Games.
Burns grew up in Tullamore, County Offaly and played a variety of sports in her youth including hockey, athletics and ballet before taking up rugby at Tullamore RFC at Under-15 level. She starred for Sacred Heart school.
