Johnny Murray was a member of the Irish football team at the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, playing in both matches. He provided the corner from which Frank Ghent scored Ireland's equaliser against the Netherlands in the 38th minute of the quarter-final, a goal that brought Ireland level at 1-1 and gave the team their best chance of progressing in the tournament before the Netherlands scored in extra time. A Bohemians player, Murray was one of five Bohemians players in the original starting XI against Bulgaria.
