Alan Lewis competed in the men’s 50 metre small-bore rifle prone event at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, finishing joint 41st in the qualification round at the Sydney International Shooting Centre. The prone rifle event requires competitors to fire 60 shots from a lying position at a target 50 metres away. Lewis was one of two Irish shooters at Sydney, competing alongside Derek Burnett in the trap.
