BIOGRAPHY
Ellen Walshe made her Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games, competing in the 100m butterfly, where she set a new Irish record of 59.35 seconds in the heats, finishing 24th overall. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, she qualified for the 200m individual medley, representing Ireland once again on the world’s biggest stage.
Walshe has an impressive record at international competitions. In 2021, she won a silver medal in the 400m individual medley at the World Short Course Championships, becoming the first Irish swimmer to medal at that level. She has also won multiple Irish national titles and holds several national records.
A former swimmer for Templeogue Swimming Club, Walshe moved to the United States to compete for the University of Tennessee, balancing her athletic career with her studies in psychology.
