Dan Martin won stages in all three Grand Tours - two in the Tour de France in 2013 and 2018, one in the Giro d'Italia in 2021 and two in the Vuelta a Espana in 2011 and 2020 - and took two of cycling's monuments, Liege-Bastogne-Liege in 2013 and Il Lombardia in 2014.
He competed at three consecutive Olympic Games in the road race, finishing 89th at London 2012, 13th at Rio 2016 to equal Ireland's best result in the event, and 16th at Tokyo 2020.

His cousin Nicolas Roche is also an Olympian and former professional cyclist.
