BIOGRAPHY

Joe Kendrick was a member of the Irish football team at the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, earning his selection with a decisive performance in the second trial match. A player of the Brooklyn Club, whose catchment area was in Dublin's Merchant Quay district, Kendrick played in the historic 1-0 victory over Bulgaria on 28 May 1924 before sustaining an injury that forced him out of the quarter-final against the Netherlands, in which Frank Ghent took his place and scored Ireland's equaliser. Kendrick holds the distinction of being the first representative of a club outside the traditional senior league structure to earn a place on an Irish Olympic football team.
