Shane O'Donoghue is Ireland's all-time record goalscorer in hockey, with 142 goals in 242 caps.
He competed at two Olympic Games, finishing tenth with Ireland at Rio 2016, where he scored three goals, and tenth again at Paris 2024. He is one of only two players, alongside goalkeeper David Harte, to have appeared at both Games, and scored the fourth goal that sealed Ireland's Olympic qualification against South Africa.
O'Donoghue made his senior debut in 2011 and was nominated for FIH Young Player of the Year in 2015. He spent most of his club career with Glenanne HC, the club where he grew up, and had two spells with KHC Dragons in Belgium between 2014 and 2020, winning two Belgian championships and coaching the Belgian Under-19 team to championship success. He is from Knocklyon, Dublin.
