BIOGRAPHY

Ailish Smyth competed in the women’s marathon at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, finishing 46th. She was one of four women representing Ireland in the athletics programme at Seoul, competing on a marathon course run in extreme heat.

Prior to her selection for tthe Games, Ailish won the inaugural women’s Dublin City Marathon in 1984.
