BIOGRAPHY

Ciara Mageean was a semi finalist at the Rio 2016 Games and in total has travelled to three Olympics.

Her journey from World and European Junior silver medallist in 2010/2011 to become European senior champion in 2o24 was torturous at times due to injuries, but she won a European bronze medal in 2016, a European bronze indoors in 2019 and European silver in 2022 along the way.

Her 4:14.58 PB makes her the fifth fastest female miler in history and she holds the Irish record over 1,500m of 3:55.87.

In June 2024, Mageean won gold in the 1,500m at the European Athletics Championships.

Unfortunately, an Achilles injury forced her to withdraw from the 2024 Paris Olympics.
