BIOGRAPHY
Ciara Everard represented Ireland in the 800 metres at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, finishing 8th in her heat with a time of 2:07.91.
Her build-up to Rio was severely disrupted by a stress reaction in her foot sustained in May 2016 after a training camp in South Africa, which resulted in a ten-week layoff and a further three weeks of cross-training. She qualified for Rio on the basis of a personal best of 2:01.21 set at a meeting in Belgium in May 2015, which was retrospectively accepted when qualifying standards were revised. Everard holds the Irish indoor 800m record of 2:02.54, set in Athlone in 2013.
She studied at University College Dublin and worked as a physiotherapist. Her older brother Eoin Everard is also an Irish international runner.
