BIOGRAPHY
Fiona Murtagh was part of the Women’s Four that claimed a historic bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, marking Ireland’s first Olympic medal in women’s rowing.
She followed her twin Alan into the sport in 2009 and was awarded a rowing scholarship to Fordham University in New York. Her impressive national title in 2019 saw her called up to the Irish team in 2020, aged 25.
She won bronze in the Four at the 2020 Europeans followed by a silver at the same event a year later.
In 2023, Murtagh and Aifric Keogh were paired in the Women’s Pair, finishing fourth at the World Rowing Championships and securing Olympic qualification.
She became a two time Olympian alongside Keogh at the Paris 2024 Olympics, they finished eighth in the Women’s Pair.
