Emily Hegarty won bronze in the women's coxless four at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games alongside Aifric Keogh, Eimear Lambe and Fiona Murtagh, Ireland's first Olympic medal in women's rowing.
She returned at Paris 2024 in the women's four, finishing seventh, having come back to the Irish team at the opening World Cup of 2024 following an eighteen-month absence from the sport.
Ten years after taking up rowing, Hegarty won World Under-23 silver in the four in 2019 and European Under-23 bronze the following year. She is from Skibbereen, County Cork, and holds a degree in physiology.
