BIOGRAPHY
Garry Power represented Ireland as part of the four-man bobsleigh team at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics with – driver Jeff Pamplin, Terry McHugh, Simon Linscheid and Power.
Power had first been involved with the Irish bobsleigh programme as a travelling reserve at the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, where Ireland made their Winter Olympic debut. He came to the sport from a background as an international discus thrower – one of several Irish track and field athletes recruited to bobsleigh for their explosive power and athleticism.
The four-man sled used in Nagano was made available to the Irish team by Prince Albert of Monaco, a three-time bobsleigh Olympian himself and a longstanding supporter of the Irish programme.
