Cian O'Connor is Ireland's only Olympic equestrian medallist, winning individual show jumping bronze on 'Blue Loyd 12' at London 2012.
He has competed at four Olympic Games. At Athens 2004 he finished first in the individual jumping on Waterford Crystal, but the horse returned a positive test and O'Connor was disqualified. At Tokyo 2020 he rode Kilkenny to seventh place in the individual jumping, and at Paris 2024 he finished seventh in the team event on Maurice.
O'Connor won team gold and individual bronze at the 2017 European Championships riding Good Luck, and was part of the Irish team that won bronze at the 2018 World Equestrian Games. He has ridden on more than 90 Irish Nations Cup teams and has won the puissance at the Dublin Horse Show four times. He runs Karlswood Stables near Ashbourne, County Meath, where he works in equestrian training and horse sales.
