Sean Waddilove finished fourth in the men's 49er skiff at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with helm Robert Dickson, Ireland's best Olympic result in the class.
Sailing in Marseille, the pair held second place overall across the regatta and entered the medal race in silver medal position. They crossed the start line early and were required to restart, finishing fourth overall.
At Tokyo 2020 the pair finished 13th, winning two races in the series.
Waddilove is from Skerries, County Dublin and sails with Skerries Sailing Club. He began sailing at seven when his parents booked him onto a Taste of Sailing course at the club, and has sailed for Ireland internationally since the age of 12. He and Dickson first sailed a 49er together at Howth Yacht Club in 2015 and won the Under-23 World Championship in Marseille in 2018. He put his studies at TU Dublin on hold after Tokyo to sail full time.
