Gordon Kennedy travelled to the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games as a substitute member of the Ireland men’s 4×400 metres relay squad, one of five members of a squad also comprising Tomás Coman, Paul McKee, Paul Opperman and Robert Daly.
The Irish team ran 3:07.42 in the heats. Born 9 March 1981, Kennedy went on to become a two-time Irish national champion in the 400 metres and recorded a personal best of 46.48 seconds in 2007, demonstrating a long and committed international career that extended well beyond Sydney.
