BIOGRAPHY

Conor McCullough competed in the men’s hammer throw at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, being eliminated at the qualifying stage with a throw approximately five metres short of teammate Declan Hegarty’s valid effort.

From Drogheda, Co. Louth, and based in the United States, McCullough was a veteran of international hammer throwing who later competed at the Seoul 1988 Olympics as well. In the Los Angeles hammer competition, McCullough’s elimination alongside Hegarty is noted in the context of the outstanding nature of Hegarty’s single valid throw of 70.56 metres.
