BIOGRAPHY

Brendan Quinn competed in the men’s 3,000 metres steeplechase at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, qualifying from his heat to get into the semi-final.

A product of the Providence College system in Rhode Island, Quinn was part of a great Waterford cross country team that won seven successive inter-county titles during the 1980s. His competition with Liam O’Brien had stretched the boundaries of steeplechase running in Ireland during the 1980s – Quinn set three national records in 1983 and a fourth record in 1985.

In the steeplechase at Seoul, an event that attracted 32 competitors, Quinn comfortably qualified for the semi-final but was unable to progress into the final.
