BIOGRAPHY
Roman Linscheid competed in the men’s hammer throw at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, finishing with a best throw of 68.14 metres in the qualifying round but not advancing to the final.
Linscheid was in outstanding form prior to the Games – at a meet in Chicago he threw a personal best of 73.38 metres, with all six of his throws exceeding 72 metres in what was the finest sequence of his career. He was unable to reproduce this form in the heat and humidity of Atlanta, his 68.14 metres being well short of his pre-Games best.
