BIOGRAPHY

Tom McGuirk competed in the men’s 400 metres hurdles at two Olympic Games – finishing 5th in his heat at Atlanta 1996 and 7th in his heat in 51.73 seconds at Sydney 2000.

Born in San Francisco to Irish parents, McGuirk graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994 and became one of Ireland’s leading hurdlers of the 1990s, winning six Irish national 400 metres hurdles titles and recording a personal best of 49.73 seconds at San Jose, California in 1996.

He also competed at the 1994, 1997 and 1998 European Athletics Championships.
