Eric Favors set an Irish national record in the shot put with a personal best of 20.93 metres in April 2024, and won the European Games with a throw of 20.28 metres.
He competed in the men's shot put at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, recording 19.02 metres to place 27th.
Favors grew up in Rockland, New York, and has Irish heritage through his grandmother, who is from Ballina, County Mayo. He was coached in high school by Paddy McGrath, an Irish hammer thrower who competed at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
