Nicola Tuthill became only the second Irish woman to throw the hammer beyond 70 metres, after Eileen O'Keeffe, with a personal best of 70.32 metres in Banska Bystrica in May 2024.
She threw 69.90 metres at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The month before the Games she finished ninth in her first major senior final at the European Athletics Championships in Rome with 69.09 metres, and in March 2025 she won gold in the Under-23 hammer at the European Throwing Cup in Nicosia.
She was raised on the family farm and is from Bandon, County Cork.
