Cathal Doyle ran the 1,500 metres at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where he reached the semi-final and set a personal best of 3:33.15. The time was a Clonliffe Harriers club record and, at that point, the second-fastest 1,500 metres run by an Irish man. He placed tenth in his semi-final, less than a second from a place in the final.
Doyle is a three-time national senior 1,500 metres champion. He developed through the Irish athletics system before competing collegiately in the United States, and has won medals at the European Indoor Championships and run at World Championships.
He runs for Clonliffe Harriers and is from Bettystown, County Meath.
