BIOGRAPHY
Pat O’Callaghan won Olympic gold medals in the hammer throw at the Amsterdam 1928 and Los Angeles 1932 Olympic Games.
O’Callaghan was from Kanturk, County Cork and developed his athletics career while studying medicine at University College Cork.
Career highlights include becoming Ireland’s first Olympic champion and one of only a small number of athletes to successfully defend an Olympic hammer throw title.
