BIOGRAPHY

Brendan Irvine was the captain of the Irish boxing team; and a flagbearer for Ireland at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

He made his first Olympics in Rio 2016 at the age of just 20 where he was beaten in the last 16 by Ukbekistan’s Shakhobiddin Zoirov.

He won 49kg silver at the 2015 European Games in Baku. In 2017 he won a bronze at the European Championships and in 2018 he won silver, at flyweight, at the Commonwealth Games.
