BIOGRAPHY

Ando Reddy competed in the men’s flyweight boxing at the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games, drawing praise for a ‘delightful display of shrewd boxing’ before losing to the reigning European champion Aristide Pozzali of Italy in a bout in which a last-minute warning proved decisive in swinging the verdict in the Italian’s favour. He was one of the first brothers to represent Ireland at the same Olympic Games, competing alongside his brother Tommy Reddy. Both were members of the Irish boxing team at Helsinki.
