BIOGRAPHY
Kevin Kimmage competed in both the 100 kilometres team time trial and the men’s road race at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, finishing 35th in the road race – the highest-placed Irish cyclist in that event.
From Dublin and brother of cycling journalist and former professional cyclist Paul Kimmage, Kevin Kimmage was a talented road cyclist who represented Ireland during a productive era for the sport. He was part of the Irish team time trial quartet alongside Mark Kane, Conor Henry, Robert Power and Paul Slane that finished 17th in 2:14:32.
In the road race, he, Henry and Slane finished in the peloton 35 seconds behind winner Fabio Casartelli of Italy, with Kevin Kimmage the highest-placed of the Irish riders in 35th place. He finished strongly despite a crash in the final few hundred metres that affected the Irish riders.
