BIOGRAPHY

Sharlene Mawdsley was part of the women’s 4 x 400m relay team that performed superbly to finish 4th at the Paris Olympic Games. The memorable race came at the conclusion of her first Olympics which saw her finish 10th in both the mixed 4 x 400m relay and the individual women’s 400m final.

She was instrumental in Ireland’s relay successes throughout the Olympic year of 2024. She anchored the mixed 4x400m relay team to a historic gold at the 2024 European Championships and led the women’s 4x400m team to a silver medal at the same event. Her contributions were also pivotal in securing a bronze medal for the mixed 4x400m relay at the World Relays in May 2024.

Sharlene’s 50:72 personal best in the summer of 2024 overtook Joanne Cuddihy to move her second on the Irish all-time 400m list.
