BIOGRAPHY
Paul Brizzel competed in the men’s 100 metres, 200 metres and 4×100 metres relay at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, and in the 200 metres at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
From Ballymena, Co. Antrim, and a member of Ballymena & Antrim AC, Brizzel was one of Ireland’s most versatile sprinters, competing across both the 100 and 200 metres at the highest international level.
At Sydney he was part of the Irish 4×100 metres relay team – alongside Gary Ryan, Tom Comyns and John McAdorey – that set a new Irish national record of 39.26 seconds in the heats, and returned to the Olympics four years later for the 200 metres in Athens.
