BIOGRAPHY
Michelle Finn represented Ireland in the 3,000 metres steeplechase at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. At Rio 2016 she finished 11th in her heat with a time of 9:49.45. At Tokyo 2020 she finished 9th in her heat with a time of 9:36.26.
Finn grew up in Castlemagner and competed in a wide range of sports as a child, including Gaelic football, camogie and gymnastics. She studied PE and Irish at the University of Limerick before taking up a four-year athletics scholarship at Western Kentucky University in the United States, where she majored in communications. She subsequently received a master’s degree in nutrition.
She qualified for both Olympics after running 9:43.34 at the Letterkenny International in 2015, and secured her Tokyo place with a personal best of 9:29.25 at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland in June 2021.
