BIOGRAPHY

Sophie O’Sullivan made her Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Games, competing in the women’s 1500m. In her initial heat, she finished seventh, narrowly missing automatic qualification for the semifinals. She then competed in the repechage round but did not advance further.

Prior to the Olympics, Sophie achieved notable success at the European Under-23 Championships in Finland in 2023, where she won gold in the 1500m, leading an Irish one-two finish alongside teammate Sarah Healy. She also secured a silver medal in the 800m at the 2018 European U18 Championships.

In 2020, Sophie accepted an athletics scholarship at the University of Washington. Her mother is Olympic silver medalist Sonia O’Sullivan.
