BIOGRAPHY

Peter Coghlan competed in the men’s 110 metres hurdles at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, finishing 7th in his quarter-final in 13.86 seconds.

From Dublin and a member of Crusaders AC, Coghlan is a former student of Belvedere College. He broke both the Irish national record in the 110 metres hurdles (13.30 seconds, set in 1999) and the 60 metres hurdles (7.57 seconds, also 1999), both of which remained national records long after his career.

He competed at five outdoor and two indoor World Championships, reaching the semi-finals of the 1999 World Championships in Seville in 13.35 seconds. He finished 6th at the 2002 European Indoor Championships. His brother is John Coghlan, the internationally acclaimed sprints coach. He is a nine-time Irish national champion.
