BIOGRAPHY

Cormac McCann competed in the men’s road race and the 100 kilometres team time trial at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, finishing in the bunch with all three Irish road racers.

McCann was part of a historic Irish cycling team at Seoul – the first to represent a unified Irish cycling body, following the formation of the Federation of Irish Cyclists (FIC) in January 1988 through the merger of the NCA and the ICF. The Irish team, sponsored by Snowcream Dairies, was managed by Billy Kennedy.

In the team time trial, the Irish quartet finished 19th in 2:07:69.7 – the fastest time ever recorded by an Irish team in the event.

McCann also won a bronze medal in the team time trial in the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
