BIOGRAPHY

Kellie Harrington is the first Irish boxer to win back-to-back Olympic gold medals.

Her ascent in international boxing began with a silver medal at the 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in the light welterweight (64kg) category. Transitioning to the lightweight division, Harrington clinched gold at the 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and secured a bronze medal at the 2018 European Championships. She also earned a silver medal at the 2019 European Games. ​

She won her first Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games, securing a unanimous victory over Brazil’s Beatriz Ferreira in the final.

Harrington successfully defended her title at the Paris 2024 Olympics, defeating China’s Yang Wenlu by split decision.

Beyond the ring, Harrington is known for her community involvement in Dublin’s north inner city and her passion for animal welfare.
