Jonno Devlin

Rowing

BIOGRAPHY

Jonno Devlin represented Ireland in the men’s heavyweight coxless four at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, finishing 10th overall alongside Cormac Folan, Sean Casey and Seán O’Neill.

Born in Springs, South Africa to parents from Northern Ireland, Devlin held both British and Irish passports. He took up rowing at Oxford University and graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a degree in computer systems.

He made his way into the GB men’s eight and competed for Great Britain at the Athens 2004 Olympics, finishing 9th of 9 nations. He switched allegiance to Ireland to join the fledgling heavyweight four that had already secured Beijing qualification – becoming one of a small number of athletes to have competed for both Ireland and Great Britain at the Olympics.

He was part of the Irish crew that represented Ireland’s first Olympic heavyweight rowing four since Pat McDonagh and Frank Moore in 1988.
